Today we got out early and headed for the Mowry Conservation Area in Smithfield, Rhode Island. This is a place where we have hiked before and have always found it to be a great hike. Today turned out no differently, with the exception that today’s hike was an extraordinary tour of mushrooms. As we hiked the trail there seemed to be a new variety of mushrooms springing up at every step. In total I think we only walked a little over two miles but it was an interesting hike none the less.
The trail starts in a rather open area with a stream running through it and a huge overhanging rock formation. I am planning on coming back here when the foliage gets a bit better and hopefully do it justice.
