Walt Whitman once said "I have learned that to be with those I like is enough." This sentiment sums up the few days we spent up in Maine with friends. Over the course of three days we swam and hiked and ate and laughed. . . boy did we laugh. Every once in a while all good things come together and make for an extraordinary experience and this short trip up to Maine was one of those times. Our friend Kathy invited us to come up to visit at a cabin she was staying at. Our friends Rayna and Al came as well, so for the time we were there we shared memories, shared stories and shared friendship over greatly prepared meals and hikes in the woods. We hiked Bald Pate Mountain along the blue dot trail to the summit which overlooks several of the lakes in this region of Maine. Distant mountains were spectacular in almost every direction from the top. We met a man at the beginning of the trail who was there making parking lot improvements with a road crew. He gave us a complete history of the area and the land trust that maintains and manages the land. What a nice guy.
Later that day we swam, and ate and played cards and laughed until late. After the evening ended I walked back down to the dock and sat on the rocks and took pictured of the stars. Here in this remote area of Maine and with perfect sky conditions I was able to get some unobstructed views.
Below is a short video I made of our time there.
And if you are interested, I have included below, a gallery of some of the still images featured in the video.
